#FreakNikATL Allegedly CANCELLED | story still developing
It appears the Black Lives Matters controversy has rained on Freaknik’s parade. It was less than 48 hours ago when promoter Danny Hefner started singing praises about the return of Freaknik, the infamous street party that attracts thousands.
“I’m getting calls from people asking if it’s for real. It is real. We’re expecting a lot of people from all over the country,” he told WSBTV.
The millennial who is too young to know how amazing Freaknik was in the 90s has given his best shot to ensure things would go smoothly, with safety being a top priority, as well as controlling traffic.
The party was scheduled for Labor Day weekend at The Atrium in Stone Mountain, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb.
“We’re going to have multiple DJs, games, all types of stuff,” Hefner said. “This is a one time thing for our generation. It’s been trending [on social media] and it’s not even close to the party.”
Rolling out just received word that the highly anticipated event has been canceled.
