BEYONCE SHOWS UP AT TYLER PERRY STUDIOS GRAND OPENING IN REGAL GOLD NUMBER
*Lawd hav’ mercy! That’s all we say about Beyonce and the super fab gold number she sported at the historic grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios. It’s debatable as to whether her 7-year-old daughter Blue Ivy is a cultural icon, but there’s absolutely no doubt when it comes to Queen Bey.
She looked stunningly regal in a gold sequined gown as she made a surprise appearance at the Atlanta event on Saturday. As you can see, the long sleeve floor-length gown featured a high neckline and tight bodice that hugged her voluptuous curves.
Meanwhile, if you’re curious about the Tyler Perry event – the grand opening of the Tyler Perry Studios – other notable guests in attendance included Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry and Samuel L. Jackson.
The 330-acre studio cost $250 million to build, and according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, “is the only major film studio in the nation owned by an African American.” Its twelve sound stages are named after notable black actors and actresses. The complex is said to be larger than all of the major studio lots in Hollywood combined.
The property was once used as a training ground for Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. Originally founded in 1885, the paper explains the grounds were named after “the highest-ranking Union officer killed in the Civil war” – Maj. Gen. James McPherson.
The AJC also notes Perry’s rise to success – It was only 20 years ago that he was living out of his car after being kicked out of his apartment.
